Turn your WordPress website into an app

A publishing website, a members area and a WordPress portal have different needs. The project starts with the content and actions people need on their phones.

How WordPress connects to the app

Web pages can load in a WebView, or content and functions can connect to native screens through APIs. The choice depends on navigation, authentication and project requirements; different workflows may need different approaches.

Articles and pages managed on the website can continue to be updated in WordPress. Native screens require a definition of the data to retrieve and how to present it.

Theme and plugin compatibility

We review the theme on smartphones, menus, forms, private pages and plugins involved in key workflows. A plugin working in a browser does not by itself establish that it works in the same way in an app.

Social login, external links, downloads and embedded content need specific testing. Changes to the website or plugins must be included in the agreed scope.

What we need for an assessment

Send the website URL, a description of its users and the tasks they need: reading content, accessing a private area, completing a form or viewing documents. We agree on secure test access for private sections.

HTTPS, a usable mobile experience and stable login are points to review. For API-based projects, available endpoints and the required permissions must be checked.

Limitations and maintenance

An app does not automatically fix a slow website or a theme poorly suited to mobile devices. A WebView normally needs a connection; offline use requires dedicated design.

WordPress, theme and plugin updates can change app workflows. Testing after substantial changes and maintenance work need to be agreed.

From website to release

We assess the website, define a workflow prototype, develop the agreed components and test them on iOS and Android. Store preparation covers the tasks in the quote; review decisions remain with the stores.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to rebuild my WordPress website?

Not necessarily. The assessment separates reusable components from those needing changes. Website work is agreed before development.

Are all plugins compatible?

Compatibility is tested for the plugins and workflows actually used. There is no blanket guarantee for every plugin.

What if my website sells products?

For a WordPress shop using WooCommerce, assessment includes cart, checkout, accounts and payments. See the dedicated WooCommerce page.
